NEW! Try the new "Write Your Own Playlist" document
and see how you like it. It is designed so that you can decide how often a piece needs to be practiced and add it to the appropriate
list.
When completely filled in, you will have no more than 16 songs to
practice, or play, each day. As you master each song, it can be moved to a less frequent practice schedule. Your newest songs,
and those you are polishing, can be practiced daily or twice a week, depending on how much you need to work on them.
Click each tab along the bottom of the page to view additional pages.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Choose the playlist that is best suited for you and print it out.
Staple it inside the back cover of your current notes book to ensure that it is not misplaced. Use it to check off what
you've practiced each day and bring it to your lesson each week.
Click on the tabs along the bottom to view the different sheets. Each
sheet contains different levels. This is so that you may print out only the levels you are currently working in.
Some pages contain more than one level, so just print out the pages as closely to your level as possible.
Some of the lists are color-coded to allow practicing fewer
songs from your playlist each day. This is useful when your repertoire grows too large to play all in
one day. Play the songs that are the same color as the vertical color bar for that day.
If the color-coding is too confusing for you, just download the Playlist
for Students in levels 1 & 2, which is not color-coded. Every playlist includes every level, so can be used by students
of any level.
We suggest the following frequencies and the playlists are labeled accordingly:
For Students in:
Levels 1 & 2: practice each song every day
Level
3: practice each song every other day
Level 4 & 5: practice each song approximately twice a
week
Level 6 or beyond: practice each song approximately
once a week
If you have not learned a song on the list yet, you may clear that line
so that there is nothing there. If you are good at working with Excel documents, you may wish to delete the entire
line. You may also print out different levels in different practice frequencies if you wish.
Go ahead & experiment to tailor it for your own needs.
Be sure to practice your newest songs and any songs
that are challenging or need polishing every day, regardless of that day's color.
Keep everything alive!
Additional note:
You may have noticed that the higher levels appear to contain fewer pieces. There are two
reasons for this. First, some of the higher level pieces are more complex and take longer to learn, so fewer are included
in that level. Second, some of the pieces that were covered in previous levels are developed further and, although
included in the higher level, are not listed on the playlist to avoid duplication.
